Barrels: Bourbon & Whiskey
All bourbon is whiskey but not all whiskey is bourbon. We’ll check out various locations offering excellent selections of these spirits. This group will meet quarterly. Join our group today! RSVPs to events will only be accepted via the website.
Beer Tasting
We meet on the second Wednesday of the month to explore local breweries to taste and compare their offerings.
Bird Watching
Rise and Shine! To enjoy the maximum number of local birds at Shelley Lake, we meet early on the first Friday of the month to learn about our birds from a Wake Audubon Society expert.
Book Bound (Evening)
This book group reads a variety of fiction and non-fiction. Book Bound meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7 PM at homes and restaurants.
Book Club (Daytime)
We offer lively discussions of fiction and non-fiction in our monthly Wednesday afternoon meetings held in members’ homes.
Dominoes
We meet on a Thursday once a month for lunch and a game of dominoes at a local café.
Euchre
Do you enjoy playing cards? Meet with us on the first Saturday evening of the month for an easy-to-learn and enjoyable card game.
Explore NC
Want to learn more about the local area? Enjoy day trips to museums, historic sites, gardens and quaint towns in the Triangle area.
Gardening
Enjoy visits to local gardens led by our own master gardener.
Genealogy
Meet with others with an interest in tracking family information.
Golf
Join other golfing members to create a foursome for nine holes or more!
Kaffeeklatsch
A group for coffee enthusiasts, who want to explore the best coffees in the Triangle along with great conversation. We’ll try out a new spot monthly and welcome recommendations.
Mah Jongg
Those experienced in playing Mah Jongg are invited to join us for an enjoyable afternoon of play every Monday at a local café.
Movie Lovers
Interested in going to a movie with friends? We meet the last Tuesday of the month for a matinee followed by dinner and lively conversation.
Non-Fiction Book Club
We discuss a wide variety of non-fiction books based on members’ interests, meeting in members’ homes on a Wednesday afternoon.
Novel Ideas
Novel Ideas discusses various fiction & non-fiction selected by members. We meet 7pm on the 2nd Tues of the month. Join us!
Pickleball
Pickleball is a sport for everyone. It is the perfect way to stay active and healthy while enjoying the good company of other Newcomers. Whether you have been playing for awhile or are a beginner (don’t shy away; it’s easy to learn), it doesn’t matter. We can play it slow or crank it up a bit. Everyone is welcome!
Playing Solo
This group is for unpartnered single Newcomers who would like to get together for events, dining, and social activities. We meet at various times as we plan our activities based on what’s happening each month.
Progressive Hand & Foot
Experienced players enjoy this form of canasta at a local restaurant on a Tuesday afternoon.
Rubber Stamping
All rubber stamping enthusiasts and those who want to try the craft are invited to join us. We meet in members’ homes on a Thursday afternoon.
Rummikub
Using a little luck & lots of strategy, join the fun, and play Rummikub! We play evenings, the 4th Tues of the month, at homes or restaurants/cafes.
Samba
Join us for a card game which combines canasta, hand & foot, and runs. We meet at a local restaurant on a Friday afternoon.
Travel
The Travel Group is for those who want an in-depth understanding about various areas for travel. We meet over lunch or dinner in a restaurant with food from the area of discussion or in someone’s home over appetizers. Information will shared by those who have been there for those wishing to visit; have an in-depth understanding about things such as towns to visit, sites to see, foods of the area, transportation, time allotments, and more.
Trivia
If trivia is your thing, join us to participate in trivia nights at local venues.
Wake Walkers
Enjoy nature while walking and hiking in the Triangle area with your fellow Newcomers. We meet on a Saturday morning at a different location each month.
Wine Tasting
Led by a wine educator, we savor a variety of wines and learn about their geographical regions.
