SUMMARY:Headed Out and Wake Walkers
DESCRIPTION:LONG AWAITED DETAILS FOR THE HIKE\, Saturday\, May 30th. \nWe will be hiking at Horton Grove Nature Preserve!   This favorite spot will not disappoint as we hike trails previously missed. We will hike a total of 2.5 miles of trails with very little elevation; the Sowell Trail\, a just under 1 mile loop around a small pond and the Jordan Trail\, an out-and-back trail of 1.5 miles.\nAfterwards\, we will gather at the Stagville Visitor Center for an hour tour of the Bennehan House\, enslaved quarters\, and Barn.  Once one of the largest plantations in NC\, the Horton Grove trails are named for local African American families whose ancestors endured slavery here.   Lunch in Durham afterwards\, depending on interest.  Bring water\, sunscreen\, mosquito repellent\, walking/hiking shoes\, a snack  & $2.00/person for the tour.  \nWE MUST HAVE AN ACCURATE NUMBER OF ATTENDEES IN ORDER TO SECURE OUR TIME FOR THE TOUR.  PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE BY MAY 28TH! \nNote: From Crabtree Valley Mall allow approx. 1 hour to get to the Stagville visitor center.  The trailhead parking lot is past Stagville Plantation at 6026 Jock Rd.
