DESCRIPTION:On July 15th\, Explore NC will be talking trash at the Sonoco Recycling Facility! Tours are limited to groups of no more than 15. We have reserved 2 group tours that day\, one from 9:30 – 10:15 AM and the second from 10:15 – 11:00 AM.  Groups will be assigned on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nAll attendees are required to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Located in Pine Level\, North Carolina (about an hour from Raleigh)\, Hinnant Family Vineyards is the largest muscadine vineyard in North Carolina\, sprawling over 100 acres.\nFrom our dry white and reds to our traditional sweet scuppernong\, we catch a spectrum of flavors in our international award-winning wines. There will be live music and a variety of food options.  Meet at the Target at 8701 Six Forks Rd ( Strickland Rd. and Six Forks) at 12 PM for carpooling\, if you’re interested. SUMMARY:Explore NC - Concert: Celebrating America's Playlist
DESCRIPTION:Join us in April for the semiquincentennial concert “Celebrating America’s Playlist: The 250-Year Soundtrack of Freedom and Peace” at A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater (adjacent to the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts). This is the second of several Explore NC events this year that honor the United States 250th anniversary of its Declaration of Independence. This free concert has a program of 20 musical pieces\, ranging from patriotic songs of the early years (late 1700’s) to recent times\, each introduced with a historical narration\, and each performed by a different soloist\, ensemble or choir.\nPLEASE RSVP BY APRIL 8th and NOTE: Tickets for this free concert are officially not made available until April 11th\, the day of the event\, from the Martin Marietta box office. We shall\, nevertheless\, try to secure a group of tickets sooner and\, if successful\, those tickets will be made available to respondents on a first-to-RSVP basis. All individuals will be notified of the ticket situation as soon as known (possibly the day of the event). If we are unable to secure a ticket for those who RSVP after April 8th\,  it may be possible for you to secure your own ticket(s) independently or it is possible that walk-ins may be permitted until the 600-seat capacity is reached. \nWhen: Saturday\, April 11th Program begins at 7:00 pm and will last 2.5-3 hours.\nAddress: A.J. SUMMARY:Explore NC - Guilford Courthouse
DESCRIPTION:Our event for March is the first of several we’re doing to celebrate the United States 250th anniversary of its Declaration of Independence. The weekend of March 14th and 15th\, Guilford Courthouse National Historic Park (GCNHP) has a program that includes reenactments of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse that took place March 15th 1781 between British forces led by Lord Cornwallis and American troops led by Nathanael Greene. Despite a British tactical win\, the Brits incurred significant losses\, making the battle a strategic victory for Americans. We will visit on Saturday March 14th for morning activities (that begin 10:30 am) at GCNHP\, including colonial arts\, crafts and games\, then have lunch (tbd)\, before heading to Country Park (that abuts GCNHP) for the battle reenactment at 2 pm.\nWhen: Saturday\, March 14th.
